Is this just a vision test for glasses, or a full eye health exam?▼
It's a complete in-store eye health evaluation, not an online app test. During Step 02 in our Rupert St store, our team performs Optovue 3D OCT retinal scans, slit-lamp imaging of the cornea and eyelids, and gentle-puff eye pressure testing. Your licensed optometrist then reviews the scans with you live by video to help catch early signs of conditions such as glaucoma, macular degeneration and diabetic eye disease, and fine-tunes your prescription.
How does the remote doctor test my prescription?▼
After your scans, you sit in our private exam room and connect 1-on-1 by HD video with a licensed optometrist. The doctor remotely controls the in-store digital phoropter in real time ('Which is clearer, 1 or 2?'), walks you through your 3D scans on screen, and issues your official prescription with PD included.
Why no dilation drops, and can you still check my retina?▼
Our 3D OCT scanner captures cross-sectional views of your retina and optic nerve without drops, so there's no stinging, light sensitivity or blurry vision afterwards and you can drive right away. Note: pupil dilation is not performed. If you have sudden flashes of light, a shower of new floaters, or a curtain over your vision, seek urgent in-person care right away; patients who need a dilated exam should see an in-person eye doctor.
Can you bill directly to my insurance plan?▼
Yes! Bring your extended health card (Sun Life, Canada Life, Manulife, Desjardins, ClaimSecure, etc.). Our staff submits the claim electronically on the spot, so you only pay the remaining difference.
Are Same-Day appointments actually available?▼

Is the prescription legally valid across BC and Canada?▼
100% yes. All examinations are conducted and reviewed by fully licensed, board-certified Doctors of Optometry. The medical prescription you receive is legally binding anywhere in Canada.
Am I obligated to buy glasses or contacts from you after the exam?▼
No, absolutely not. Your exam is an independent health evaluation. You receive your official, digitally signed prescription — with your Pupillary Distance (PD) included free — on the spot to take anywhere you choose.
However, many patients choose to fulfill their prescriptions with us thanks to our in-house Vancouver optical lab (Est. 1980):
